Recent Progress in Research and Development on Wood Frame Construction.

Abstract

This program was conducted for the purpose of developing improved Wood Frame Construction techniques and of fixing as more popular wood construction in Japan. The report is continued to the details of "Structural Performance for Building Element of Wood Frame Construction", shown in the report of the 2nd Japan-Canada Housing Committee.

This research program was officially adopted as one of the National Research and Development Projects sponsored by the Technical Counsellor of Construction Minister's Secretariat, and was managed by the Building Research Institute, Ministry of Construction, and was done by the standing committee in the Land Development Technical Research Center. Members of the standing committee (See Table 1) were consisted of two subcommittees. The first one was mainly engaged in the study on structural performance and planning. The second one conducted the study on the structural safety against fire.
