Research on Design Earthquake.

M.Watabe; September, 1976. 21p.

Abstract

The maximum values of accelerations, velocities and displacements of the earthquake records are first discussed utilizing the historical and instrumental data as well as some theoretical approaches. Then, duration time and deterministic intensity function of the accelerograms are introduced. The predominant periods and spectral shapes of the strong motion accelerograms are also reported. Historical earthquake data were utilized to assess the earthquake risks in Japan. Finally the explanation of proposed "the design earthquake" concludes this report.
